August 10, 2008:
Preamble:
OLSA was registered as a private Limited Liability Company under the Laws of the Republic of Kenya Cap 486 in June of 2006 to undertake duties of logistics, procurements and services in the OIL & GAS industry in Kenya, the East African region of Tanzania, Uganda, Southern Sudan, Somalia Mozambique and Ethiopia. OLSA is a fully fledged member of IADC (International Association of Drilling Contractors).
Indeed, we are the only Local member of the IADC in Kenya on the service sector. IADC is the world renowned OIL & GAS contractors association Headquartered in Houston TX and its membership comprises OIL & GAS Drilling Contractors, service companies, Engineers, etc.

As an Industry leader we are rated as the first OIL & GAS service company fully owned by Kenyan entrepreneurs whose founders experience in the Industry runs over 20 years during which time we have ran OIL & GAS campaigns in Northern Kenya, Southern Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania and Libya in that order. We offer well integrated, innovative, customer specific and 24/7 services and logistics to the OIL & GAS in this region.
We are equipped with the state-of-the art modern technology at our Free Zone Supply Base at the Port of Mombassa for use specifically by OIL & GAS E/P customers in this region. We observe strict HSE operations practices as per expectations of our esteemed clientele.

is concerned. In addition, we will intervene on your behalf to resolve
issues with the bureaucracy.
5] Quality Health Safety & Environment Policy:
OLSA is a strong believer that nobody should get hurt in the work environment. To mitigate this we have the correct procedures well adhered to at work. In addition, we do provide our workers with correct PPEs (Personnel protective Equipments) safety manuals and how to carry out ERP (Emergency Response Procedures) We also take a serious concern in protecting the environment wherever we work we religiously ensure that no polluting of the environment ever takes place.
6] Access To Service 24/7/365 :
OLSA uphold the belief that OIL & GAS activities are urgent and around the clock affair. Our dedicated personnel are on duty and on call at all the time be it day, night, weekend, holiday etc. for 365 days in a year.
7] Bore-Hole Drilling Services:
OLSA Do believe that water is a vital requirement in all drilling activities as well as a good tool for Drilling Companies as well OIL & GAS Operators to use in fulfilling their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) by allowing local communities to use the same water for their domestic use as well as for their livestock. In this regard we have therefore entered into a JV (Joint Venture) arrangements with a professional Water Drilling Contractor who have vast experience in this region to undertake all our clients water Drilling requirements.
8] Customs Clearing & Fowarding Services:
OLSA knows that efficient clearing of goods at the points of Entry for OIL & GAS customers is an important & critical aspect of their Operations; hence for OLSA to mitigate that effectively we entered yet into an MoU ( Memorandum of Understanding ) with a Mombassa based Company to undertake the clearing & Forwarding jobs at the Port of Mombasa Airports and at all the border points of the Republic.
9) Free Zone Supply & Service Base @ Mombasa:
OLSA do understand that charges at the Port of Mombasa are high and punitive therefore we at OLSA have for strategic reasons acquired a 10 acres (4 Ha) base & the necessary licenses to fabricate and carry out certain services for OIL & GAS Operators in this critical East Coast of Africa frontier region. We too intend to position certain vital tools i.e. Fishing tools to serve both On/Offshore OIL & GAS Contractors and Operators.
10] Armed Security Service Provision:
OLSA do understand that Disciplined Security is an integral part of this vulnerable industry such as O&G from such threats as Terrorism, sabotage etc. To mitigate this threats we have convinced the Government Security Arm to train specifically a niche unit which will be assigned to OLSA for guarding and escorting cargo and personnel in the OIL & GAS Industry to ensure that such demands will be delivered as and when needed consequently OLSA has a bidding MoU with APDC ( Administrative Police Department Commandant ).

They are all certified professionals in their respective fields and have vast experience gained from serving in their various industries for periods ranging between 3 and 30 years in Kenya and the rest of Africa. A brief of our key personnel is given here below:-
Joe Gathecha Capt - Chief Executive Officer:
An
enterprising self-motivated, aggressive and visionary business manager
of long standing. Capt Gathecha started his working career as an Airline
Pilot who rose to the rank of Fleet Captain of Kenya Airways before venturing
into business. He understands very well what on-time performance and HSE
is in a serious industry as O&G. or Aviation His discipline, work
ethic expertise is a source of inspiration to the young OLSA team.
Joe N Gikebe – Operations
Director:
An
accomplished O&G professional who started his career as an accountant
for an O&G service company in Kenya which has seen him in Southern
Sudan and Somalia; areas where the companies they worked for first discovered
oil in ‘80s. He is a hard working manager and down to detail which
works well in this industry. He has over 30 years experience in this O&G
critical sector.
Paul Mburu Douglas – Manager Special Projects & Logistics:
Paul
is an accomplished marine engineer who trained in Australia and did a
stint in the sea before returning to Kenya where he has worked in various
organizations both in Government and NGOs. He has worked for World Bank
Projects and the USAID as a Procurement and Logistics Manager in the Sudan
and Northern Kenya before joining OLSA early this year. Paul is a big
asset to OLSA because of his hands-on experience in Northern Kenya where
most prospective oilfields are located, as well as his marine experience
for offshore drilling service jobs.
James G Mbote – QHSE Manager:
James joined OLSA right from Moi University where he graduated with a degree in computer sciences. We recruited him to work on a Nabors Drilling International ( NDIL) contract in the Southern Tanzania region of Mtwara. During his training by NDIL James so impressed his NDIL instructors with his quick and responsive grip of the lessons that he was requested to tutor his colleagues in his class. After we successfully wrapped up the Mtwara campaign we were consequently invited to Libya by NDIL who had already been impressed with OLSA’s crew performance. There again James continued doing well and got rapid promotions. We have already loaned-seconded him to NDIL as a country HSE Manager in Libya.
Leah Wanjiku Njuguna – Finance
Manager:
Leah
is a graduate of Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) in Finance,
Auditing & Accounting, a CPA (K) holder and she is a result-oriented
Finance Manager.
James Muruku – Procurement/Special Duties Manager:
James
is an experienced Rig crew member of long standing. In 2000 under the
training and supervision of NDIL he became the first Kenyan national to
be promoted as an Air Supervisor during their Opower Drilling campaign
at OLKARIA. He also worked as Field Coordinator before being promoted
to his present position.
Ernest Mihango – Insurance Officer:
Ernest
has a CPA (I) in accounts and COP in insurance. He worked in the insurance
industry in South Africa for three years. He is responsible for all insurance
matters in the company and all risks category for the rigs.
Margaret W Gathecha – Administrator/Office Manager:
Margaret
is I.T. literate and takes care of HR records as well as general office
administration.
Kennedy Abuje – I.T. Manager:
Kennedy is a Maseno University Graduate in ICT (Information Communication Technology) He is solely responsible for our award winning website <www.olifieldsafrica.com> he designed it and had it hosted on the internet. He is truly our most valued webmaster for our site where we do receive flood of hits every month.
Sylvia Waithera Nderu – Personal
Assistant to the C.E.O.:
Sylvia
holds a Diploma in management and is computer literate conversant with
EXCEL, DATABASE, POWERPOINT MS-WORD etc. She is an asset for a fast growing
& result - oriented company
